1. KATY PERRY TO RE-RELEASE ‘TEENAGE DREAM’

After going through a divorce with Russell Brand and not being seen publicly since, Katy Perry will stay focused on her work by re-releasing her double-platinum sophomore album Teenage Dream. Scheduled for a release in March, the re-packaged album will now be titled Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. There’s no word on whether the re-release will be combined with the original album or a standalone EP ala Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster and Ke$ha’s Cannibal, but it will contain some new tracks produced by Tricky Stewart and probably the single versions to all six of her Billboard Hot 100 hits.

Ever since she got her round of #1 singles this era, Katy Hudson and Capital have been desperate as fuck to get her a new #1 every single release. However, the buck got stopped with “The One That Get Away.” Even with that, her chart hoe shit tactics were even more evident by dropping a single/radio version, a B.o.B-featured remix and the just-released acoustic version. And we all thought Beyonce was bad in her heyday SMH.

Anywho, at this point Katy needs to be releasing her third album off the success of Teenage Dream instead of re-releasing an album that came out August 2010. Hell, Jessie J’s ”Domino” could’ve been her lead single and another #1. I truly don’t understand, but I’m 1000% sure this re-release will produce another #1 smash so that Katy can go to bed comfortably knowing she achieved her goal.

  2. THE DOC-ARAZZI!: LADY GAGA PERFORMS - NORMAL!

Over the weekend, Lady Gaga performed at Z100’s annual Jingle Ball Concert in NYC. And while many may have been figuring out why did her set look like a fresh Christmas Tree seller with a trailer and lights on Route 13, I was paying attention to her new style, which isn’t so new.

“The Artist Formally Known As Stefani” ran through her hits while decked out in her The Fame era gear, special glasses and blonde wig included. This is the look I greatly appreciate from Gaga because this is the Gaga I fell in love with before people knew who the hell a “Just Dance” was. Even in the “Marry The Night” video she seemed normal towards the end (when the music actually began in the video). I don’t know when this version of Gaga will ever come back, so I’m just gonna soak in this image while it lasts.

  3. MUSIC VIDEO: LADY GAGA - “YOU & I”

    ***Brandiinoo’s Breakdown***

So Lady Gaga decided to go over to Nebraska and took the simplicity of the ”Edge of Glory video and mixed it with her “Judas” video to come up with Splice:The Music Video. The fourth visual of her third second album Born This Way leaked yesterday. GaGa went Nicki-esque with her supposed “alter egos”, one being a man, Jo Calderone, and the other being a mermaid named Yuyi. Well in the visual, Yuyi is in a bathtub full of Lil Kim’s facial water inside of a barn (sound like Splice yet?) as some man basically flips her gills and puts his flounder in her clam. GaGa walks through the desert sporting all black and borrowed the metal outta Kanye’s jaw and made it a chip strap. There’s a mad scientist performing surgery on her and she does a nice lil dance routine while rocking her Edge of Glory wig just lengthened. Overall I like the video despite the fact that it was choreographed and directed by Laurieann Gibson. It’s cool that we can see all the different faces of GaGa in which we haven’t really seen since Bad Romance, she even brought back her ever so famous outrageous sunglasses a little. The video offically releases on Thursday at 7:49 on MTV and GaGa is scheduled to perform at the 2011 VMA’s Sunday, August 28th.

  4. MUSIC VIDEO: NATALIA KILLS F/ WILL.I.AM - “FREE”

    ***Brandiinoo’s Breakdown***

English singer/songwriter Natalia Kills has finally come forth with a video for her 3rd single “Free”. The Jeff Bhasker-produced cut featuring Will.i.am is off Kills debut album Perfectionist. With this being Natalia’s 3rd single off this album and still not much hype has been created, sales are not in her future. The album has been released over-seas, but only making it to #35 at it’s prime. As far as single choice, Free just shouldn’t be it, “Zombie” is a much better choice.

In the video, Kills is dressed in your finest couture fresh out of your monthly French Vogue magazine. She shows us all that she just doesn’t give a fuck and she can look good while doing it. By holding her life savings while her hair is on fire and revving a chainsaw, she does just that. There’s short burst of the truth, like: “You Are What You Wear”, “Money is Everything”, and “You Can Buy Happiness”. That fact that Will.I.Am traded in his hard wrap for a hat makes his appearance just that more bearable. But one can’t but help to notice the Gaga-esque similarities:

    • The “up-do”
    • The “Aljeandro” pants
    • The motorcycles
    • Having guys put on lipstick

Between that and the font from Beyonce’s 4 era, it makes me think if Natalia has thoughts of her own when it comes to videos. But overall, hot, simple video.

Natalia’s debut album Perfectionist is released in the U.S. August 15th.

  5. MUSIC VIDEO : LADY GAGA - “EDGE OF GLORY”

    ***Brandiinoo’s Breakdown***

Lady GaGa put away the horns, sent her dancers packing, and let go of the biblical references for what some are saying, her worst video to date. GaGa premiered her video Beyonce-stlye (a minute clip) for ”Edge Of Glory” last night on So You Think You Can Dance. The video includes saxophone legend Clarence Clemons (who is recovering from a stroke) and Gaga herself. Here is where the confusion begins. The clip was supposed to be directed by Joesph Kahn (Eminem, Katy, Britney) but he was cut at the last minute. Kahn’s assistant took it to Twitter to express his dismay tweeting,

“Very last minute, we shoot a whole days worth of concept. The next day she sends all the dancers home and made it all solo.”

“Basically: Day 1 of 3 (Shot concept) Day 2 of 3 (Shot all Gaga) The end, concept scrapped, no 3rd day. Gaga edits video.”

So what got into GaGa that made her cancel her dance-filled video? Well from a non-little monster perspective, it was the write move. If GaGa keeps going with these dance filled, overly symbolized videos, it going to get old soon. Every once in a while it’s important to dumb it down and make it simple. The fact that she is dancing by herself on the set of Hey Arnold made the video simple, a word that’s not in her vocab. Well since this one is lowkey boring, expect the next one to be jam-packed with symbolisms, long nails, weird clothes and GaGa in all her GaGa-esque.

  6. BEYONCE, LADY GAGA, TLC ALL PERFORM ON ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ FINALE

While Scott McCreery and his Cracker Barrel-approved country voice was crowned the 2011 American Idol, the attention was also focused on the artists that came out to perform during last night’s show. Beyonce, Lady Gaga and the legendary TLC all came out to perform on the season 10 finale of American Idol.

    **Brandiinoo’s Breakdown**

The top 13 finalist performed Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and as the show went on, some of the contestants did duets with musical icons. James Durbin rocked out with Judas Priest, James Durbin sang it up with gospel star Kirk Franklin and R&B legend Gladys Knight, and Casey Abrams teamed up with Jack Black. All the female contestants got down right sexy and performed “Single Ladies” and “Déjà Vu.” Then of course Beyonce couldn’t have anyone take her shine, so she half-assed jiged her way on stage and did her 4-count routine to “Crazy In Love.”

    Next up were TLC!

The ladies had Lil Jon (who’s been doing the damn thing on this past season of Celebrity Apprentice) intro their set with their flop single “Come Get Some” from their 2003 greatest hits album before T-Boz and Chilli broke out into “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls” with four of the female contestants. It’s always great to see TLC perform at any event nowadays and just shows they still got it. I also always get a tad happy feeling of excitement in my soul whenever T-Boz does her “No Scrubs” jig.

    **Brandiinoo’s Breakdown**

The girls also got a real gift as they were lucky enough to get Chili away from her man-stealing gigs long enough to be able to perform “Waterfalls” with TLC, but of course only after TLC performed “Scrubs” with an into by Lil Jon. *insert confused face here* I’ll give it to TLC though, they really got me hype with their old school leather and key-chain metal hook outfits and their “Waterfalls” jig, even they Chinese contestant tried to get it, even though dancing on television probably brings shame upon her family.

    Lady Gaga

    **BB**

Lady Gaga’s the next relevant thing performing her latest single, “The Edge of Glory” off her newly debuted CD Born This Way, which of course was Gaga-like.

Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Sheila E.

Marc Anthony repped for the fellas when he took the stage to perform “Aguanile.” Joining him was his wifey J. Lo and Sheila E. on the drums. I actually dig Marc’s music and seeing J. Lo shake her tailfeather like a good wife should just proved that she’s still one of the hottest dancers in the industry after 20 years in the game. Sheila E. is also still a monster on the drums, but that’ll never change.

    *BB*

Ok, so Marc Anthony performed, and we all know that the only way that he was allowed to perform was because of his wife, who even helped him with his performance, making sure that nobody steals all of her spotlight. J.Lo did her “drop and wiggle with it” while her husband hit his high notes, then she took it back to what she knows, being a back-up dancer.

    Beyonce

Bey then took the stage one last time to debut the first performance of her “favorite song” and new 4 single “1+1”.

  7. MUSIC VIDEO: BEYONCE - “RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS)”

After delaying the video from it’s original Friday the 13th premiere, Beyonce’s video for “Run The World (Girls)” FINALLY made it’s premiere (somewhat) on tonight’s American Idol, where she also served as tonight’s mentor. The Francis Lawrence-directed video (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears) sees Bey running the world with her girls with hyenas, bulls, lions, sand, rusted cars and some converse chucks. The single, which hasn’t been fairing quite well as of yet on the charts, is the lead from her upcoming fourth solo album 4, in stores June 28th.

I have to say, I actually enjoy this video! As I’ve said before, since she doesn’t have Mathew Knowles managing her anymore, the quality of this video isn’t that of Matty and his Walmart gift card hookups with Solange’s lunch money change. This is by far Bey’s highest quality vid and it kinda sorta makes me like the song just a tad. We shall see what effect the video has on the song’s chart position in the coming weeks.

  8. TV RUNDOWN: ‘BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES’ (EPISODES 1-5)

toni braxton 12 Hot Shots: The Braxtons Glam It Up In New Promo Pics

Ever since it’s April 12th premiere on WEtv, I’ve been a fanatic of Braxton Family Values. The show follows R&B superstar Toni Braxton and her four other sisters, Towanda, Trina, Traci and Tamar. For those still not familiar with the show or the sisters, let me break it down for y’all:

Toni - the superstar of the clan. My R&B 90’s crush since I was three years old lol. Six-time GRAMMY-award winner. Even though her last album Pulse flopped harder, I still can’t forgive Toni for that 2002 album More Than A Woman.

Towanda - Toni’s “executive assistant.” Mother of two. She and her husband Andre have a “open marriage” where they are basically roommates in their own house (which they have to move out of).

Trina - The “party girl” aka “the drunk one” lol. Married to Gabe, who has cyber-cheated on her in the past, which led to Trina’s drunken ways and DUI arrest. One of Toni’s backup singers. Looks like she could be kin to Ashanti circa 2002’s Ashanti album era.

Traci - Tamar calls her “hoodrat.com”. Mother, wife, lives with mother-in-law in Maryland. Got pregnant at an early age, therefore forcing her to leave her sister’s group in the 90s. Seems like the type to pick up my hot wings and fries with extra ketchup and salt and pepper from the hood corner store.

Tamar - aka the “realstaroftheshow.gov”. Had a self-titled album out back in 2000 (that I owned once upon a time), but it only stalled at #127 on the Billboard 200. Needs to make a hustle of selling web domain names (see the show for reasons why). Likes to drop it low, pick it up slow, roll it all around, poke it out like her back’s broke. Her husband Vincent Herbert (music exec who works with JoJo, Lady Gaga and is Toni’s manager), doesn’t want his wife to do “hoe-sheeet.” However, Tamar is tired of being Toni’s backup singer and is determined to make it solo one more time. And that’s the truth.com.

Also, the show has just been renewed for a second season four episodes into the first season. The second season, which will consist of 13 one-hour episodes, will premiere in 2012. Congrats to Toni and the rest of the ladies!

  9. LIVE: LADY GAGA - “JUDAS” (‘ELLEN’)

Lady Gaga went to a charity auction and purchased Britney Spears’ 2001 “I’m A Slave 4 U” video pants to give the first televised performance of her new single “Judas” on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today. The track is the second single lifted from her upcoming album Born This Way.

Let’s just say I don’t like this performance. She started off late singing over the playback, the choreography looked too much for her and I just flat out hate the song. The End.

Oh… the “Born This Way” episode of Glee is their lowest-rated episode this season.

  10. MUSIC VIDEO: BRITNEY SPEARS - “TILL THE WORLD ENDS”

Britney Spears parties till the end of the world on December 21, 2012 in her latest video for “Till The World Ends.” The post-apocalyptic video featuring Miss Spears and company getting sweaty in an underground party was directed by Ray Kay (Willow, Lady Gaga, Beyonce).

The Ke$ha-penned/Dr. Luke, Billboard & Max Martin-produced track is the second single lifted from Brit’s just released seventh-studio album Femme Fatale, which debuted at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 (more on that later).

Also, there will be a second version of the video released soon that’s choreography-only.

I gotta say this is Britney’s best video in a long time and waaaaaaaay better than that hyped-up confusing “Hold It Against Me” video. Britney is also looking real sexy and beautiful in the clip circa 2001’s “I’m A Slave 4 U” and you can tell she’s actually enjoying herself this time around.

  11. MUSIC VIDEO: LADY GAGA - “BORN THIS WAY”

Lady Gaga has finally premiered the video for her #1 single “Born This Way” and let’s just say, this video is something special (not in a good way). The clip, directed by Nick Knight and choreographed by Laurieann “Boom Kack” Gibson, finds Mother Monster giving life (I think), punany juices squirting everywhere, dancing like an anorexic street prostitute, and something about a unicorn and walking in the street. I do have to shout out her park girl side pony tail that made it’s debut during the Grammy performance.

But ain’t this some illuminati shat? LOL. Before I get attacked by Gaga little monsters and have to put them on life support before pulling the plug, I’m no Gaga hater. I’ve been rocking with her since the beginning and people gave two shits about her. But this video was good but bad at the same time. I’m all for being different and artful and all since I do art, but some things are just too forceful and it gets old after a while.

  12. RIHANNA & DRAKE TO PERFORM AT THE GRAMMYS, CHRIS BROWN TO MAKE ‘SNL’ DEBUT

Drake must be jizzing in his pants like crazy now, because it’s been revealed that Rihanna and Drizzy will hit the GRAMMY stage on February 13th to perform their #1 smash “What’s My Name?” for the first time together! Riri has 6 nominations for the night while Drake has four noms.

Other artists added to the 2011 Grammy Award performs list include Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Cee-Lo Green, Eminem and Usher.

One artist that won’t be at this year’s GRAMMY Awards is Chris Brown. While he’s fighting to get the “stay away” order against Rihanna to a lesser “do not disturb” order, it isn’t because of the GRAMMY’s (but Rihanna is single now…HMMMMMM #imjustsayin). But anywho, CB will make his Saturday Night Live debut on February 12th as the musical guest while Rihanna’s BFF Katy Perry’s hubby Russell Brand will host for the night.

Chris will drop his hotly-anticipated fourth album F.A.M.E. and Fortune on March 22nd in both standard and deluxe/2 CD editions. The current top 20 US single “Yeah 3X” just hit the top 10 in the UK this week while the second single “Look At Me Now” is shooting up the iTunes chart after it’s release yesterday.

  13. KEYSHIA COLE EYES LADY GAGA COLLAB FOR NEW ALBUM

Keyshia Cole JUST released her new album Calling All Hearts a month ago but is already plotting her next release. Since Hearts opened to not-so-stellar first week numbers (only selling over 140k to date since it’s release), KC is ready to move onto recording what will be her fifth album. When speaking with MTV News on who she would love to get in the booth with on the next disc, Keyshia replied

“I would honestly love to work with one of the girls that are huge in pop, like a Beyoncé or Lady Gaga or Fergie.”

So could this be a possible outlook on the sound of Keyshia’s new album? I kinda sorta hope so because I would like to see her expand her sound in a different arena while still staying true to her roots. A Gaga or Fergie collaboration wouldn’t be hard to achieve being that all three ladies are under the Interscope umbrella. It’s all a matter of KC actually reaching out to make it all happen.

IMO, Keyshia has the potential to release a huge record that will crossover to mainstream, just look at “Let It Go” and the Diddy-collabo “Last Night.” However, she had the opportunity to take on the challenge with ‘08’s A Different Me, failing to release standout tracks such as “Please Don’t Stop” and “Erotic”…hell even “Beautiful Music” was taking off nicely.

Keyshia is also one of the rare R&B chicks that can do some Pop music while still keeping her urban soul alive (listen to A Different Me’s supposed-to-be single “This Is Us”). So this new chapter will be interesting to watch in terms of sound, being that Calling All Hearts is flopping due to horrible ass single choices even she regrets (s/o to “I Ain’t Thru”).

But in the meantime, Keyshia will be releasing the Irv Gotti/Chink Santana-produced “Take Me Away” as the third single from CAH. She recently shot a video for the track as well as kicking off promo for the single by performing on The Conan O’Brien Show last week.
